A Gathering in Abiquiu
I have headed west each fall for the last five years to teach photography workshops in locations such as Mono Lake, Yosemite National Park, the Eastern Sierra and, most recently, Abiquiu, New Mexico. I will be returning to Abiquiu in early October to meet with a few friends and fellow photographers for another exploration of this beautiful and inspiring location.
After being involved with several workshops, I've found the parts I enjoy the most are the exchange of ideas, watching other photographers work, comparing their images with mine, becoming aware of our differences and gaining insight into what works best for me. So this is going to be more of a gathering and less of a structured or technical workshop.
As we did last year, days will be split between being out in the field photographing and meeting later for discussions, presentations, reviews and whatnot. Lots of whatnot. And probably a jambalaya dinner thrown in there somewhere.
There will be a presentation on seeing (finding the interesting in the ordinary) as well as a showing of handmade books, alternative process prints, a hands-on demo of ink transfers, color prints, black and white prints and other cool stuff.
Workshop dates: October 3-7, 2012. We will meet on the evening of Wednesday, October 3 and the workshop will conclude on the afternoon of Sunday, October 7. Lodging in Abiquiu is limited (but wonderful) so if you are interested, reserve something as soon as you are able. You may contact me for suggestions.
Cost: $300 and class size is limited.
