I have been so saddened recently by the events along the
gulf coast, especially the areas hit closest to home. I went out with my
camera on Monday, a week after Hurricane Katrina made landfall, just to take
a break from the devastation and despair. I shot a series of
photographs, one of which is included below. When my friend Eric saw
it, he wrote "Jenny, this is like a shining beacon of hope for the
wetlands of Louisiana. Luminous and proud. Quiet and still."
For some reason, that made me feel as if maybe, just possibly, there is hope
after all.
"Cypress, September 5, 2005" is being placed up for
auction with 100% of the purchase price going to the Louisiana SPCA.
This organization has been working diligently along with other groups to rescue the pets left
stranded by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. The winning
bidder may make payment directly to the Louisiana SPCA by check or Paypal
account online. Once payment is verified, the print will be shipped to the buyer
immediately.
The print is approximately 6x9" and is print #1 in a
limited edition of 50. It is printed on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag using
carbon sepia piezography inks.
The current bid price will be updated several times a day.
The auction will end at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, September 19, 2005. The
winning bidder will be notified by email and details of the transaction will
be finalized.
Thanks for helping the pets of South Louisiana.
